5 Vision Board Ideas you can use to reach your real-life goals & Increase Motivation
Creating a vision board is a classic way to get serious about creating a mindset of success around your goals. But as a beginner, what sorts of vision board ideas can you use?
In this post, you will find 5 different vision board ideas to help you really get those motivational juices flowing, and start working towards those goals!

1: Goals don’t have to be physical or actually visible at all. The deeper goals are often mindset goals, or emotional health goals, rather than goals you can actually pick up.
Obviously, how you represent these deeper goals on your vision board will need to be visible, you can use any type of image that resonates with you, to represent them. Feel free to look up your deeper goal on Google, find the product you want on Amazon, or walk around your neighborhood with a camera, to find something that really represents this goal well. (This mode of finding a picture or idea works for all these vision board ideas, too!)
2: Make them something that brings up strong, determined emotion within.
Make sure your goal is something that you really identify with. It’s not about what you think will impress someone else. Those sorts of goals are actually very shallow. Make your goal something you can feel, right deep down in your gut.
Pictures of your children are perfect, if they are who you are doing everything for. A representation of faith in God might be something you add in there - as a Christian this would definitely be on my board - in order to remind yourself who is actually in control along the way.
Or, you might find that you are working towards something because you are inspired by someone - a parent, a famous person, or someone who has passed away whom you loved.
Emotion can make us more determined than anything else. It’s too important to leave out.
3: Make it meaningful.
Create a picture that shows what the change you’ll make will actually mean to you. Will it mean health, better breathing, better family relationships, or not having to go outside your house to go to work? Will it mean fitting into that wedding dress?
How will that impact you? A simple picture or word about this, such as ‘epic wedding pics’ or ‘work on my terms’, with a mock-up of yourself doing exactly that thing, could motivate you and your subconscious more than 10 beautiful pictures.
4: Add some natural products
Add something natural to your vision board - or actual visual reminders of what motivates you already. Working towards a holiday at the ocean? Grab a few shells, some fake seaweed or even a small amount of sand, and make your board a holiday theme - this is fantastic for helping you feel like you are already achieving this goal, and therefore your subconscious brain is helping you work towards achieving it, even more effectively!
If you want to run a forest retreat, or want to take your husband out to an expensive hotel for your anniversary; add the shiny brochure to the side of the board so you can see it. It’s important to have those things in front of you - even just so you don’t forget them - but mostly, because you want to work towards it intentionally.
5: Add a relational touch.
Make sure you add a picture of your family, or those dear to you.
Who is coming with you on this journey? What is actually important at the end of the year, if that’s when your vision board is intended to be ‘achieved’ by?
Not adding this to your board can mean we get laser-focused on what we want to achieve (which is great, don’t get me wrong), but it can also mean we might sacrifice family time as a result. Or, find yourself actually resenting time with family because they are ‘taking us away’ from achieving what is on our vision board. This is dangerous for family relationships, and also actually very damaging to your emotional health and wellbeing.
Vision boards are a popular way to get intentional about your focus for the coming year (or any timeframe, to be honest).
These vision board ideas are intended to help you get started on your process for this time - may they help increase your motivation, emotional health and wellbeing, and also help you achieve your goals as you move forward into what your purpose is!
